From a Buick Six

Because there's more than enough to do

during the "Holidays," I haven't done much

in the way of new drawings, so here's one from

the way back machine. I drew this one

in 1981: in the last century. It's amazing that

I've kept it all this time. . . or maybe it isn't.

I remember doing this standing in the

driveway of the house I was living in on

Boundary Street. I used a magic marker.

Keep it simple.

Presidio

The Presidio, officially known as the

Serra museum, has been a San Diego

landmark since 1929. It was in July

of that year that George Marston,

a noted San Diego businessman and

philanthropist dedicated the site he had

spent over 20 years developing.

Built near the original 1769 location

of the first Spanish settlement in

what would later become California,

the Presidio stands today as the

gateway to Mission Valley, home to

freeways, car dealerships, hotels and

shopping malls. I drew this sketch from

the parking lot one sunny afternoon.

downtown

Dispite the gentrification and homogenation

of the East Village and downtown in general,

there are still some older buildings with character

that stand out as a reminder of an earlier

time in the history of downtown San Diego.

Willie Dixon

Willie Dixon is one of the greatest

names in blues music. In the 50s and 60s,

virtually every major blues artist

recorded one of Willie's songs.

He's the original Hoochie Coochie Man.
